Nota d'usoIl sostantivo paio si traduce con “pair” quando due oggetti sono dello stesso tipo e formano un insieme indivisibile: un paio di occhiali, a pair of glasses; un paio di scarpe, a pair of shoes. Invece, quando ci si riferisce a due cose diverse si usa il sostantivo “couple”: Ci sono un paio di cose di cui dobbiamo parlare, there are a couple of things we need to talk about; Sono via per un paio di giorni, I'm off for a couple of days (non I'm off for a pair of days). -
